I'm incredibly proud and happy to announce that I have successfully gained my Trainee Sign Language Interpreter badge! This means I can start working as a regulated trainee interpreter, BSL to English and English to BSL, registered with the NRCPD.
I have been studying since April with the wonderful tutors at Bruce Delfosse Interpreter Training on what is Part 1 of the Signature Level 6 Diploma in Sign Language Interpreting and Translation. There is a separate assessment to become a trainee and then all the paperwork needs to be submitted in order to pass Part 1. Then, at some point next year or the year after, it will be on to Part 2, which involves gathering evidence towards becoming a fully qualified sign language interpreter.
This is the culmination of not just the seven months of my interpreter course but the last ten years of my life, studying the language, becoming part of the Deaf community and increasing my confidence.
Hard work but worth it!
If you need a BSL interpreter, you can find information on how to book my services on my interpreting page.
