Level 6 - Achieved!
I am very delighted to announce that I have achieved my Level 6 Certificate in British Sign Language!
It has been a long journey - two years! - due to life events; family illness, getting my new business up-and-running, working as a Teacher of the Deaf, being a parent and successfully completing Part 1 of my interpreting diploma!
But I finally got those assessments booked and I’m ecstatic to have that certificate in my hand! I’m a real life-long learner, though, so it doesn’t mean I’m done with my learning about BSL - part 2 of my interpreting qualification will come next and that includes plenty of opportunity to continue to develop my understanding and improve my abilities. In over a decade I definitely haven’t learnt all there is to learn and I want to go as deep into the language as I can. Not only will it mean my teaching ability improves but my conversations with friends at Deaf club will be more meaningful.
The winners? My students and my friends. But for now, I’ll celebrate this win for me!
